Legal information
Privacy policy
Legal framework: Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (loi Informatique et Libertés).
This policy explains what data you entrust to us when you join the Altaïr AI waitlist, why, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights.
1. Data controller
Altaïr Education. Contact for any question about your data: contact@altair.education
2. Who can sign up
The form is intended for parents or legal guardians who are of legal age, and for high-school students aged 15 and over. We do not collect any data directly from minors under 15, including their first name, date of birth or exact age.
3. Data collected
- Your email address.
- Proof of your consent (checked box and timestamp).
- If the referral programme is open: your personal referral code (assigned when you confirm your email address) and, for people who sign up through a referral link, the code of the corresponding referrer.
- Technical connection data (IP address, browser) processed by our hosting provider for security purposes.
Optional:
- First name.
- School level (CP-CE2, CM1-CM2, 6e-5e, 4e-3e or 2de-Terminale).
- Your choice: to be informed of the commercial launch of Altaïr AI, to take part in the beta, or both.
4. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Data concerned | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Informing you of the commercial launch of Altaïr AI and/or the opening of the beta, according to the option you chose | Email, interest | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Selecting pilot families (10 to 30), solely from among registrants who chose the beta | School level, sign-up choice | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Managing the referral programme: assigning you a personal link, counting the confirmed sign-ups obtained through it and taking them into account, among other criteria, when selecting pilot families | Email, referral code, referrer-referee link | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Measuring demand and guiding product development (school levels, sign-up choices) | School level, sign-up choice | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Securing the site and limiting abuse of the form | Technical connection data | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
We may also present aggregated, anonymized figures to partners or investors (for example, the number of registrants per school level). These figures cannot be used to identify you.
5. What you are contacted about
When signing up, you choose what we may contact you about: the commercial launch of Altaïr AI, the beta, or both. We respect this choice: a person who signed up only to be informed of the commercial launch is never contacted about the beta. Your data is not used for any purpose other than those listed in the table above.
Referral works only by sharing a link: we never ask you for your friends' or family's email addresses and never write to people whose details you may have given us. A referrer only sees the number of people who confirmed their sign-up through their link, never their identity. Referring may improve your chances of being selected, but never guarantees them.
6. Recipients
The data is accessible only to authorized members of the Altaïr AI team. Our service providers, who act on our instructions, are:
- Supabase, Inc.: database storage (France);
- Netlify, Inc. and OVHcloud (France);
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): Turnstile anti-robot check on the sign-up form;
- Proton (Switzerland).
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising purposes.
7. Retention period
We keep your data until you withdraw your consent and, at the latest, 12 months after you sign up. Proof of your consent is retained so that we can demonstrate that your choices have been respected. Anonymized statistics may be kept indefinitely.
8. Your rights
You may at any time request access to your data, its rectification or erasure, the restriction of or objection to its processing, and its portability. You may withdraw your consent whenever you wish, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal, by writing to contact@altair.education or via the unsubscribe link included in every email. We respond within one month.
You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, cnil.fr), or with the data protection authority of your country of residence.
9. Cookies and trackers
This site uses no advertising cookies, no audience measurement tools and no social media pixels. Your browser only stores your language choice (local storage), which is strictly necessary to display the site. If you open a referral link, the code it contains is kept for the duration of your visit (session storage) so that your sign-up can be attached to your referrer, and disappears when you close the tab.
The sign-up form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, an anti-robot check. To tell a person from a robot, it loads a Cloudflare script, which receives your IP address and technical information about your browser. This information is used only for that check and for the security of the form (limiting abusive sign-ups), never for advertising. For the same purpose, we limit the number of sign-ups per connection: to do so, we keep an encrypted fingerprint of your IP address for about one hour, not the address itself.
10. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures: encrypted connection (HTTPS), a database with no public read access, and restricted internal access.
11. Persons located outside the European Union
We apply the same level of protection to all visitors, regardless of their country. [Specific section for California residents (CCPA) to be added if traffic warrants it.]
12. Changes
We may update this policy. You will be notified of any material change by email. The French version prevails in the event of any discrepancy with a translation.
