Altaïr’s Notebooks
What if school could change the way children see themselves?
A few years at the helm of a nonprofit alternative-education school taught us one essential thing: when a child rediscovers the joy of learning, many other things can change.
We founded a nonprofit alternative-education school and ran it for several years. The experience was rich in lessons, encounters and emotions. Above all, it allowed us to see how much children can blossom when the way they learn is taken into account and their progress is recognized.
Families told us about changes that mattered deeply to them: a child who became happier, more communicative, more drawn to creativity; another who gradually found the desire to go to school again; parents delighted to see their child regain confidence and engage in learning.
These testimonials describe individual experiences. They do not prove that one teaching approach suits every child, or that the same environment will have the same effects on everyone. But they remind us of something important: a child's relationship with learning can change, and adults have an essential role to play in that change.
Another way of looking at difficulties
A child may struggle in one setting and reveal other strengths when the medium, the pace or the way a concept is approached changes. This does not mean that every difficulty disappears. Rather, it invites us to look for what helps that particular child understand, participate and make progress.
We learned to look beyond the immediate result: the way a child phrases a question, the confidence they build to give something a try, the pleasure they rediscover when they understand something on their own.
An experience that continues to guide us
This experience did not produce a universal method. It gave us a conviction: there is great value in multiplying the ways we support learning, while respecting the role of teachers, families and professionals.
It was in this spirit that Altaïr Education was born. We want to offer a smart, practical digital educational tool that supports students in their work, lets them approach certain content differently and strengthens their understanding without doing the work for them.
We are not trying to replace school or to promise a solution to every difficulty. We want to carry forward this attention to each young person, to their uniqueness and to the way they discover the world.
We founded a school to offer children another way of learning. Today, we are pursuing this commitment on a different scale: enabling every student, from elementary school through high school, to find their own path to knowledge without giving up what makes them unique.
